I am always working on conceptual stuff. I am inspired by amazing stories, hence my love for comics, superheroes, fantasy and fairy tales. One such story is Joan of Arc, which was the inspiration for this image. This image is not finished, something still feels incomplete .......... or maybe not ....... we'll see. I worked with a talented model Sam who I made scream for this.

I have been away for a while, but glad to be back. Been a very busy couple of weeks with life, photography and the 9 to 5. I worked on a shoot a few weeks for the Jfactor org. JFactor is christian talent singing competition. I was commisioned to create images for each of the contestants and had only two hours to shoot 8 contestants. I decided to use a voice in the fields concept. This images didn't have a stand-up microphone as the others but loved it very all the same. I have been working on my exposures lately and this shoot was a good way to put what I had learnt to use. I am trying to become more technical these days. What do you think of the image?

Hello all. I won't be around for a while, taking a much deserved holiday in Spain. Queued this image up over the weekend as I am trying to maintain blogging at least once a week. This is from my dust series which has a few previous images on my blog. Your thoughts would be great on this one. Someone last week called me an image creator .................. I am flattered and quite like that title. I do spend my time thinking up ideas ;)

When I work on shoots, they are more ideas or concepts. I love the idea of developing a concept into a visual like this image. This is from my Sons of God series. I am not going to explain my thought process on this one ..................... hopefully it speaks for itself or speaks to you. If you have any thoughts I would love to hear them, whatever they are. Like the priest I am praying that one day I can be a fulltime photographer and create symbolism based photographs ............... Its a dream I know

Hey everyone, thanks to everybody who visits my blog and follows my work, especially to those who told me what they think about what I do. I am humbled by your flattering words, I hope to continue to get better and push the boundaries of my work. This another image from the shoot series "Dust". Some people have asked about the texture I used in the previous image .................. This is not a texture, its real smoke. This was my first shoot using a smoke machine and boy was it challenging, my help for the day Wura was helpful in fanning the smoke into the right direction. Smoke doesn't behave and blows wherever it wants. I am planning to conduct a shoot outside with smoke .......... God help me. I need a title for this ................ any ideas? Have a great weekend everyone.

To practice and improve how I shoot I do what people call test shoots, and these end up being part of my portfolio (if I ever do get there). This was one such shoot where I decided to leave the confines of a studio and shoot with studio strobes and natural light. Boy was it challenging, but I learnt a lot and hope do some more shooting outside. The trick is to balance light and I am sorry to say, you have to understand the technical aspects of photography (zzzzzzzzzz) and the measurement of light. I am going to be buying a light metre to get near perfect readings next time. The light measurements were done by the camera and by eye. Heres a question, what sort of photographer do you think I am? or how would you explain my work? If somebody asked you what type of photography do I shoot, what would you say? Can you tell anything about my personality from my work? Seriously curious to know your thoughts on moi and this image :)

Lately I have been trying to put my projects together in a story telling manner, kind of like images of a series. I think this is how I will present my portfolio .................... groups of images that tell a story. Only time will tell if that works out. I shot this over the weekend and couldn't help but do some quick processing and put it up. No crazy photoshopping went on here before anybody thinks I went crazy again. I just did my usual contrast work. I am not entirely happy with the colour tone, I swear it had more green tones on my PC ......... oh well. For this image many thanks to Anne my makeup artist extraordinaire, Christie supermodel, Noriko great hairstylist and Wura my lovely assistant. I couldn't have done this without you all. I am hoping to blog more often ................ yes I can hear the persimism in your voice already .......... I'll prove you wrong LOL

WOW Thanks Suby. I was able to preserve my colours by changing my profile to sRGB. I usually work with AdobeRGB, which I find to be a better profile, because it seems to have a wider colour spectrum. So from now on I will be converting to sRGB for shutterchance uploads. A few weeks back I decided to do some shooting outside ............. get a bit of practice with lighting outside. I am hoping to blog more regularly in the coming weeks. Have a happy weekend

WOW I lost my colours when I uploaded ..................... oh well. Can anybody recommend a way to deal with this sort of problem, especially since I am working on my site and I don't want to lose colours when I upload. Been doing a few personal projects lately, heres a shoot from one of them. I am learning how to engage models .............. it can make or break a shot. Getting the right model has become very important to make a shot stand out. If you take a picture of beautiful and interesting things, your already half way there ................. I think.

Credits Stylists: Segun Garuba and Tanaka Matibiri (TeeandSegs) Makeup: Anne Duncan Model: Lilly Jolie This was from a personal project I decided to work one a few weeks back. I crazily decided to get 6 models, 3 makeup artists and 3 hair stylists in for a project I called Nudes n Neons. It was based around 2 current fashion trends for spring summer. It was one of those shoots where almost everything went wrong, 3 of the 6 models couldn’t make it, 2 hairstylists and 1 makeup artist cancelled on the day(don’t you just hate that) and somehow by the grace of God the shoot went ahead and I got still got 6 models (that’s another story). Anyway everything came together on the day. Advice to anyone………..don’t friging try to go crazy with getting in loads of models, MUA, stylists and hairstylists, the logistics are a theatrical nightmare. I wonder if anyone can figure out how I did this? (its actually quite easy and I am sure the shutterchancers weill get it in a heartbeat, they never miss a trick). And no I didn’t use photoshop. It was all done in the camera, all I did was boost the contrast as I normally do. Hope everyone had a great easter.
