photoblog image Portrait of the Pier

Portrait of the Pier

Theme: Brighton

I thought I wasn't gonna do a theme, but guess what? I am. My theme this week is my favourite place in England, Brighton. Todays shot was taken at the sea front on a beautiful summers day. The shot didn't come out the way I wanted, but I am improving my technique, so bear with me.

Seeing this shot is getting me excited for the summer when I can put away my coat away and wear light clothes. Most importantly off course I can take my camera and not be fearfull of losing my fingers in the cold.

What do you think of this shot?

More tomorrow from Brighton

Boy, if this did not come out they way you wanted it to, I wonder how much better it can look when you get it right. Darn boy, excellent shot, love the framing, love the photoshoping, the boy done good. You get a "I LIKEY" from the Subster.

Wow.. I think the water itself has a nice look. The sky is an organic creature!
sk: yea i'm thinking of renaming it the bleeding sky
My shots never seem to come out like I want them to, but if they turned out anything like this, I'd be doin' the Happy Dance on my desk!

Beautiful!
I'm waiting for an interstellar cruiser to pop through that hole in the clouds. Well done!
sk: interesting.......... I was waiting for a worm hole to emerge. wink thanks

amazing sky! wow. it's like a wormhole into another galaxy or something wink
This is a very surreal photograph. Everything seems very real but very fake at the same time. It's like out of a dream.
Amazingly beautiful! like the composition and the sky! oh, not to forget, i like the buildings behind A LOT!

wow, this is great !
Really good shot, my only criticism is the burnt out area of sand near the sea, looks a little ... burnt. However as an image, Fantastic.
Nice one Asiko, very well executed. You seem to have started your HDR journey pretty well. Fantastic shot.

I think it's a beautiful shot, and I can see why it's one of your favorite places.
A truey wonderful sky. having been to brighton in the winter on several chilly days i definately get that british-seaside-town-in-winter feeling from this image. Brrrrr!

i love brighton and look forward to this series - hopefully you'll highlight the disgraceful neglect of the other pier!

Great sky by the way.
Looks as though that was quite the dynamic sky. It's always fun to capture the way clouds and sunlight interact.

It's a good photo, love the sky. But eek! I don't think you can take a photo of Brighton without people thinking DJN anymore sad
Very well balanced! The streaks of light are very lovely. Your processing is neato!
A really great shot.. I like the polaroid feeling in this.
