photoblog image An experiment in tritone

An experiment in tritone

Theme: Brighton

Since I was running out of stuff to put up for Brighton I decided to experiement with tritones. This is basically removing colour from an image and then three colours into it. This image is basically made up of the blue, red and yellow. The original shot can be found on my old blog HERE

So this concludes my Brighton theme.

I am not sure about this image, maybe I got the colours wrong or something, I dunno. Tell me what you think.

I like the way you're playing around with this effect. It's something for people to try...I'll try it myself sometime.
I like both images but the original, in my opinion, is much better. That said, I love when people experiment, especially when they put thought and logic behind their manipulation. Too much manipulation without identifying how the manipulation enhances the effect of the image is usually a set-up for failure. The one thing you can say about the two different versions of this photo is that they both convey different messages and much different feelings. It's a great study in how post-processing can drastically change the effect of an image. Cheers, Brent
Interesting affect. Works well here.
nice experiment! wink i like it.. gives it some air of mystery..
I like the reflection of the building in the pool of water.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Guys im really NOT feeling this! I strongly dislike the term "Playing around", but thats not the issue here, when I see shots like this I ask my "WHY" and "HOW", and then "WHY"! Again.

Tri-tone works for some images, not this one, your shot posted yesterday for instance, would have worked well with this concept maybe.

Why put yourself under undue pressure to post a shot when you don't have one?, "When in haste, errors abound!"

Even with the right 3 colour combo, this pic would have at best looked like a film negative, and there are reasons why peeps develop their negatives instead of framing them :-D

I can see you "Cracking this egg", but not today son! In a couple of months, you'll look back at this pic and say..."I did this!" and you'll laugh it off, cause, you would have learnt to do it properly :-D

Asiko, I for one, can't wait until that day...

My verdict: Back to the drawing board on this! More practise, I would really like to see this same picture posted in a couple of months, when your skills would have improved, like I know they will!

Keep up the good work! :-D

Interesting, I think with the clouds and the bright lights from the windows, makes it look almost like an explosion from behind the structure. Like a clip from a movie scene.
I like this shot - it's very graphic in it's style. I think your original shot is more directly "beautiful" with it's distinct complementary colours, but this one is more artistic in it's expression. Guess I just like them both!
I'm on the same stand with skee and Jd, the minority. i only liked the original. this pic shows nothing and tells nothing about it. hahaha~

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, me no likey, tones do not work at all. I LOVED the ORIGINAL shot to death, I can only wonder why oh why you played with this image soo much, This is like picassa taking his paint brush to one of his master peices cause he had nothing else to display

Yes I consider the original shot one of your best shots I have seen). The original was really lovely, when I saw it I was really blown away. Then this???? Why or why??? You really must have been bored smile

I totally agree with the Skee. Back to the drawing board, you WILL DEFINITELY look back in a few months and wonder why?
just awesome..
It has the mystical feel in it. It's 3.45am in the morning while I am typing this here, and I just checked if someone was behind me. smile ...
The experiment into tritone works...Love it...The sky baks up the foreground so well and produces a powerfull image.

Love them both. To all the peeps who don't like this one, I think they have to be viewed in different contexts.

This one has a very eerie feel to it. What would make it tight is cutting (cropping? don't know the photography parlance) everything out from below the fence - reflection et al.
