photoblog image A smile would be nice

A smile would be nice

This young man wasn't evry amused when I tried to take a shot of him. To me his expression is priceless, funnily enuff two minutes later he was smiling with me. Children!!!

This shot was taken at a wedding I was fortunate enough to cover last year. This was probably the nicest wedding I ever went to.

Your ideas on this candid shot?

cool he looks like he is going to yell at you nice
Looking right thru the lens, nice capture.
He looks apprehensive. Nice candid!
Great shot, and great framing of the subject. The man on the right is a reflection of where the kid will be one day. We all grow up and we all go to these same events again and again. And, for most men, going to these events is no fun...his expression, in turn, works beautifully. My only suggestion would be to convert the entire background to white. Very high regards.

lovely shot. really strange at the kid's initial expression. my experience is that kids usually want to jump in front of anything that looks like camera.

Oooohhhhh, the Subster Likey, I love the expression on the little fella face. Love the composition, love the way you only captured some of the man. Only slight niggle is the lighting from the left side on the boys face. Ohhh what the hell, it a wonderful shot so who really cares smile

He's so cute; definitely looks like he's listing in his mind all the other things he'd rather be doing and all the other clothes he'd rather be wearing. Oh well, it's fun to dress our little ones up.

I am glad for your explanation behind this shot. I think he looks really sad, but a really great shot and I know that children always smile when you have pu down the camera.

I agree with Suby, wish you could see his face just a little better. But the concept of the shot is great. Love the way you framed it.

Very nice shot, I love the set up, it shows the height of the child when the adult is standing next to him.

For some reason he reminds me of those little black page boys you see in some 18th and 19th century paintings from royal courts, sort of standing behind the king or the queen with a turban on their head, holding a fan or somthing. They always haver very serious looks on their faces like this kid, and all dressed up.

I don't see anything wrong with the background or the lighting. I think the background adds to the character and candidness of the shot and the lighting on his face? How could it not be more perfect. Oh yes. His expression speaks volumes! smile
Very nice shot asiko! You have captured the kid very well!
This kid is ser-i-ous! Lovely shot, great composition!

We get a great sense of size due to te tall guy next to he boy...truely this was a stroke of genius.
i'd be upset too if I had to wear a tux like that as a little kid.

That glance, the boy has eyes that speak. A photo magnifies.

I always find it hard to take photos of people when they are staring at me,so have to give you credit there.Yes,the expression is priceless, the lighting is perfect, the background is white and subte which is what it should be and he is the centre of attention in the photo as soon as you look at it your eye jumps to his face.Another perfect shot, very well done!
What a wonderful shot!!! The partial showing of the giant person next to him makes it so interesting. And what an expression on his face.

àsìkò, I like this shot. Nice expression and great framing!
this is so great. i love it when kids just stare at you like you're an alien when you shoot them, and your composition/color here are right on.
I love this perspective. Wonderful image.

Wouldn't it be great, if we were a little more like children: Making a face one minute and be perfectly fine the next smile? Great framing and I just love his big eyes!

This is sooo on point, I love the picture! However, I don't think the lil man looks scared, worried or nothing, he almost looks like he's analysing something. Probably the photographer. - Could be childish inquisity.
