In thought

Another of my shots from Nigeria. This is actually my brother who is standing by the balcony, not exactly sure what he was doing. He seemed reflective in thought to me. What do you think? What does this shot speak to you?

I am very gratefull to all those who stop by on my site and comment. I am sorry I sometimes don't reply, I get really swamped at work. Thanks for stopping by and I always wanna hear whatcha think?

Shutterchance is really growing with over a hundred people presently posting and more to come. I remember when we were just seven only five months ago. I have an idea; why don't we start a theme every other week or every week. So at the end of the week we post a picture on a particular subject chosen by whoever. It would be great to see what everybodys interpretation of the same subject is. I really think this is a good idea, what do you think?

Ahah now!!!! Why you hurting me today. You go boy. Nice shot....
sk: thanx Oga. Oi u didn't say anything about the theme. I will hound u and call u 2day
Very reflective, indeed. With the bright light in the background I would say the afternoon is starting to end, it's been a long day, and this guy's contemplating something big, something important. Ok, that's my interpretation. Nice shot.

P.S. The brown tones: keep using them if you love them. I kind of get bored with them after a little while. I know some photographers on here like to have a consistent, organized look and feel to all their images, especially if they're all portraits, etc. I think the processing has a big effect on how a viewer not only sees an image but feels about an image. And because you're doing a series of shots from Nigeria, I can understand processing each image in a similar fashion. That said, let the colors of your images also speak to the meaning you're trying to convey. Maybe it's just me, but the brown effect on these images get me kind of down and I'm not sure that's what you want me feeling in an image such as yesterday's. Just my thoughts...just rambling. Love your stuff. Kind regards.
sk: thanx Brent, ur thots are always welcomed. I wasn't sure about yesterdays colour toning as well. i still have a lot to learn
Nice sihoutter, is it me or is the image soft?

About, weekly theme suggestion, I agree it would be interesting to see people interpretation of the same thing.
sk: thanx Sola, yea it is soft, which i did to provide a slight glow
I like the use of backlight in this shot.

This is a wonderful shot. It looks like he is someone who has just heard some terrible news and is leaning on the wall for support as the news sinks in.

I love it, because I really feel it! Great composition and natural light. It looks like your brother was just taking a break from the world and drifting in his own thoughts. Could be just the tiredness or some problem urgently needing to be solved. I like the brown tones, but of course there is so much more one can experiment with. There is cross-processing, changing the actual colors through selective color (in Photoshop) or - what Sebastian and I also often do - using the original colored image and a gradient layer (with a few percent opacity). As Brent pointed out, it is all about the look and the atmosphere you want to create.
sk: thanx Ella, i will try ur methods sometime, always nice to hear from U

Aright bro, lets roll.

WIL:
-The silhouette-ness of this shot.
-The fellas pose, very very meaningful. He looks deep in thought.
-The reflection of the balcony's little pillars casted on the tiles.
-The glowyness of the balcony itself.
-Colors. Works wonders as opposed to full color.

WILD:
-The light seeping from the bottom of the door which his hand is resting on.

Overall, this is a spectacular shot! The meaning behind it can go so many ways. Though the title does lead you in a certain direction when trying to interpret this shot, but I ignore most titles.

This shot deserve a 9.8/10.
sk: WOW 9.8 out of 10, I'm so chuffed, its like oh my God thats like so cool LOL, thanx Reza

"WOW 9.8 out of 10, I'm so chuffed, its like oh my God thats like so cool LOL, thanx Reza"

lol, get used to it kido, im going to start to rate photo's from now on. Now if only a certain someone who runs a certain photoblogging website would add a "Rate this shot" deal so we can rate photo, then that would be MUCH easier.
to me, the best shot of the day!
