Lady Lacrecia

This is my portrait week. This is Lacrecia. This shot was taken about two weeks (the same as yesterdays funny psycho shot). When I take a portrait, I don't want it to just be a snap shot of a person, but an artist rendition of my interpretation of the individual. So this is my rendition of Lacrecia, what do U think?

So my question is this, am I good enuff to do your portrait? More tomorrow

She looks so very proud and thoughtful too. Interesting combo of emotion captured in this portrait. I love the lighting you used here.

Those are some serious earrings too!

As to doing my portrait...no one is good enough to make me look good in a portrait...so I will remain comfortably on the other side of the lens. LOL
sk: LOL thanx Laurie, maybe I'll persuade U yet
Ok where do I start!

-Light in the face is the obvious let down, totally un-flattery, the lights have not only been placed in the wrong place but they are a tad bit too strong.

more work has to be done understanding how to properly luminate a 3- dimensional object.

- Composition, fairly ok... but nothing to talk about

- Expression on models face: Model look rather un comfortable, maybe due to the strong lighting smile

On a whole, and having met the model before, this shot did not do Lacrecia any justice !
sk: thanx I agree with the lighting issue, something I am working on. She doesn't look uncomfortable. so what could be improved about the composition cos I actually liked it and thot it was fine
Pls give me a call 2morro nite... we can discuss more then.... smile
I see Skee's point with the light, however I know I have seen potriats just like this one, with harsh lighting on the subjects face in photography and fashion magazines and I often wonder why they do it. Now because those guys do it may not mean its right, but I find that photographers sometimes purposely stray from the rules or norms. That's what you have done here (eventhough reading your reply to Skee's comment you probably didn't do it purposely) and it works for me. Also I like the composition once again my sort of stuff.
sk: thanx Mr Labinjo, it was my first time using studio lihting equipment, so I was trying stuff out while wet behind the ears, but I am improving sha. It was done purposely like this but I didn't get what I was looking for, alas it could have been better, anyway more 2moro and we shall see if it improves

Not reading what has been said above, wanted to give my unbiased 1st thought of this shot 1st(apologies if I may repeat anything already said)

Lighting, just does not work for me, (same with yesterdays shot), seems to be all over the place, a little to harsh here,a little to dark there, the look on her face I know is not supposed to be, but seems dorta out of place (can't put a finger on it)

However, I remember reading (I think on your post yesterday) this was your 1st foray into the Studio (sometthing about a Mamiya 22 Megapixel cam as well), so for your 1st studio shoot, i have to say this is very good place to start and have to give you your well deserved props.

Welldone bro.

sk: thanx man, yea I am beginning to venture in studio photography (I like to try all aspects of photography and discover what I like the most, I really like the studio aspect and hence I want to improve, we shall see abi) more 2moro
