photoblog image Contemplation of a skater boy

Contemplation of a skater boy

aaarrrrrggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why does this image look slightly smudged, esp round the subjects face? or is it just me?

Anyway this is another shot from skate boy B from our park shot (and yes he knows how to skate). If U went out partying at the "Conde Last" club U probably would run into the skate boy Bayo. Dude thanx for posing for me.

I feel this image is unfinished, any ideas on how to finish it anybody?

Weak weak weak shot bro, lighting pants (literrally, why is it all concentrated on his pants?).

Maybe converting to monochrome might rescue the shot, maybe adding a little DOF to the background might help, maybe if you capture the whole if his feet it would have been nice.

maybe, maybe maybe.

All in all not feeling the shot, weak.

Trees in the background....nice. Sky.....nice!

The angle that the subject has been taken, I don't really like, it's a composition that looks uncompleted! Sorry it dosen't work for me either.
nice shot...though I think the shot is lacking a bit of drama.
Why didn't you get him to look at you?
Just read Suby's comments and I think Suby is a bit too harsh!
although the shot does look unfinished, there is something about it that i really like. i really like the way that skater boy is plastered against the trees and the sky. it almost seems like you cut him out of and pasted him in the picture. very unique.

Not the kind of background I would associate with a skater (can u even skate on grass?). The blown out pants and cut off foot (really awkwardly too) don't help either. It's kinda boring too. Sorry dude.

Looks like a GAP ad. Makes you think cos the subject is out of the usual environment. Liking the colours

I like this and agree with many of the comments. It could be an advert/billboard type shot that we regularly see for GAP or in GQ magazine. I agree that the feet is a little problem and it's easy to get caught up in the moment and forget the framing. You'll know for next time.

In terms of the subject and the surroundings they are incongruous but you've done that deliberately, a fish out of water type of composition. I still feel that this is a city park therefore it does work, it's not as if he's on a beach or something however if there were a couple of lit streetlights amongst the trees it may have helped. The lighting is a little harsh on his trousers but no big deal. I do however feel that the subject should be looking at the camera as looking away leads my eye that way and there is nothing there.

It certainly isn't weak and I really don't understand those suggesting monochrome when the focal point has to be his multicoloured jumper and the contrast of city scene and rural???
Not so bad ;-)
Wonder what he is looking at...

I like this one asiko.

Maybe its his sweater and it totally not blending in with the background or a skater type.

Asiko, I am now a local hero in my neighbourhood thanks to these series of photos. It might actually help me with some females...
The Smudging around contrasty objects is probably caused by the compression level of the resized jpegs after they're uploaded. It happens to me a lot to. But it's all good! I think it looks finished. It's a shame about his right foot. I did the same thing in an otherwise really lovely shot I posted a few days back. sad I like it though. I think that's the only reason it looks unfinished.
Nice shot ..
