photoblog image Downturned expression

Downturned expression

Another portrait. Technically I have a few issues with this portrait but I love it none the less, so I decided to share it with U. I have found there are three reasons why I blog, 1. To improve my photography. When people provide feedback on my images, I take what they are saying on board and see if it can help the image. 2. To learn. I have learnt a lot (and I mean a lot) by reading and looking at other photoblogs. 3. To share my photography and what I know with others.

I used curves to boost the contrast on this (if anyone could tell I love contrast images, most if not all mine have a PPed contrast). I also vignetted slightly around her face.

Jide is lacking inspiration.................. when I lack inspiration I take a step back and do something else, the inspiration usually comes back. Jide has blogged everyday since shutterchance began, WOW thats crazy commitment. Maybe its time to give it a rest for a few days. I remember when I did that, I was relieved and had time to concentrate on other things. Dude whatever you do its all good, just make sure you enjoy what you are doing, if not, U need to re-evaluate.

It's so unusual to see a portrait at this angle but it so works well, never thought of it before, great shot

"How we shoot is based on what we know therefore we should increase what we know...and shoot better"

A thought that just came to mind smile keep up the good work

This is a very unique perspective. It has an emotional impact. Either she is contemplative or sad. The interpretation may depend on the mood of the person looking at the shot.

Interesting style coming up here....you are really using these lights to the max...I'm so jealous....Lovely shot.
sk: thanx Jide, really loving them but I want to really master them, and I only use one, I want to start to use two, which i find a challenge

Excellent shot & PP. Firstly, try avoid showing the back of hands especially with female subjects (it's considered unflattering traditional in Photography) & secondly avoid having the hands pointing directly towards the camera....that might me posting a different shot from another angle...good luck buddy.

A good book to read is

"Professional Posing techiniques for weddings & portrait Photographers", by Norman Phillips (Amherst Media)
sk: thanx Abi that was very useful, will do

odd how so many people seem to be lacking inspiration at present, perhaps the approach of winter is depressing. anyway, i think this is a great portrait; it has a very...emotional feel.
