photoblog image From the depths of my troubles

From the depths of my troubles

Self-portrait theme

Trying something new (for me), I am starting a self-portrait theme this week, so please be nice as I find these very hard to do. Set the camera on self-timer and run to the front of the lens before the shutter opens, hard work I tell U.

These portraits will hopefully be an expression of how I am feeling these days, as I am on a journey of reflection and self discovery. I have seen the light (cheesy I know) and I am gratefull to God for all He does in my life. This portrait is reflective of all the bad times where my dependence in God has helped me through.

Hope to have another self-portrait tomorrow

Everything about this is beautiful, especially your words. Its great how the light reflects on you and the contrast of dark and light in the shot. Made all the more poignant by your words.
sk: thanx very much Ari, glad u like it

Very nice shot. How did U do it, as in, the partial darkness.?
sk: naija broda, whats good now? i used a snoot on studio type flash to concentrate the light on a certain area. then I used the self timer on my camera before i ran into the shot. took me about 5 takes to get it like this. I PP in PS and burnt some areas to add my drama for dark areas
hey asiko,

really terrific capture. i love the expression that you captured. absolutely wonderful use of light and shadows....it creates a really powerful image. i have come to see that in order to discover things about yourself, you must make yourself vulnerable, and while that is an uncomfortable and scary place to put yourself in, the rewards are worth it.
sk: i agree, thanx very much Nicole
Great idea, wonderful shot and caption...looking forward to the rest...
sk: thanx Yanik, ur snake shot scared the hell out of me today (hate snakes)

It's a lovely portrait Ade, although (now this is me being cheeky...so please forgive me)now you've told us how you made it..I can't help chuckling as I think of you setting the timer and then dashing round half naked and then posing.....sorry that's probably not what you wanted to hear...just being honest.
sk: LOL yeap running around half naked

You got a little Fela thing going right there, dontcha? When you stop to think about what God has done for you, you can't help but be grateful and there's nothing cheesy about that. Your talent alone is reason enough to be thankful.
Liking the lighting Asiko
I like the light of this frame...nice. Is expressive.
