Those that got married

Theme: Couples

This is a shot from the one of the weddings I did over the summer sometime in September. Lovely bride and grom they were.

As we know some couples end up getting married and they live happily ever after ....................... yea right, not in this day and age. The separation and divorce rate is probably at its highest these days. I sometimes think we are not patient and there is less staying power. I have heard of people who get married and within a month its over ...........WTF? thats scary. Anyway I pray we all become more understanding and as one boy band says "have a little patience" and work through our issues in relationships.

Great shot àsìkò. Clever use of a different angle gives them great prominence. You're clearly a thinking photographer; well done.

As for marriage, choose your partner wisely, mean what you say at the alter and then work at it. Give and take, compromise all over the shop, and don't let the sun go down on your ire.

Just clocked up 25 years this year and not looking for a trade-in yet.
sk: WOW chunter 25 yrs, congrats man, very rare in this day and age

You will be happy to know that my husband and I have been married for 22+ years now. My Brother in law and his wife have been married 25+ years, my oldest brother has been married for 34 years (wow), and my other brother and his wife have been married almost 22 years. But we do work at it.

I think it's just too easy to bail out through divorce. I think that too many get married just to have the pretty dress and the big party. I also think that too many have the attitude going in that they always have the option of divorce if it becomes difficult which it will, it always does. But if you weather the storms, you come out the other side better and stronger than before.

Stepping down off the soapbox very carefully now.

Lovely shot of a lovely couple.
sk: wise words from Laurie, thanx and I agree much

Call me superstitous but I'd hate those words accompanying my wedding picture. It really isn't as bad as you make it sound else people like me wouldn't be willing to take the plunge. Take counsel from these old hands, even Dotun who's got six months under his belt. I know loads of people who have been together for ages; the kind who can't get up the stairs without assistance anymore but would still make the journey up and down for each other. It's a rare kind of love that keeps you by someone's bedside when they can no longer feed themselves or even remember your name. I'm not all rosy eyed about the institution but know that true and lasting happiness is achievable. My christmas wish for you is that you find forever with that special someone.
Great angle and capture!

As the very happy bride in the accompanying photo, I do agree with Blacktinkerbell, I hate these words accompanying my wedding picture. I'm happy to let you know that we've just had a beautiful baby boy and even over sleepless nights and poopy diapers we're still very much in love with each other and our son.
You do not go into the institution of marriage thinking that a third of all couples end up in divorce, you go in with faith, love, dedication, strength and hope and I pray that when you get married in September, you will not go in with such a cynical attitude...
sk: congrats Kike, may God continue to bless u and ur family
