photoblog image My little girl

My little girl

Again I am back for a day LOL. More child photography, this one with a mother. I absolutely love child photography, for the innocence children display. I decided to crop this one very tight for impact.

PS I saw a nude shot on shutterchance (over the weekend) that scared the hell out of me.....................I am not a fan of nude photography where everything is on display but I guess that is a matter of preference or p0rn. he he he he. I really like nude shots where something is left to the imagination and there is artistic element. Everybody might not agree with me, but I think there should be some sorta censorship on shutterchance in regards to stark nude photography.

LOL @ your *Nude* Comment....
sk: LOL
Although I like the idea here, I do have issues, I can't really see the bond btw the child and the mother, but thats just me...maybe. Also I do think and more obviously too, that you have over processed this one a tad too much.

The b/w choice rather than the colour option however I do think was the right choice to make!
sk: Ok I have changed the title from "the bond" to "my little girl". I think titles how u view the image. hmmmmm............ not sure about the overprocessing u mentions. all i did was Guassian blur with an overlay. thanx always helpful blend

Looked at this image as soon as it went up and decided to come back for a second, now 4th look, it's a cool picture, but just lacks that certain connection for me. Can't put my finger on it, so for me it get a still high 7/10 grin

As to the nude shot, it's not always everyones cup of tea, I do agree that there should be some sort of warning when nude shots are put up at least warning the veiwer he or she is about to veiw an 18+ image, but I say, as long as it is not distasteful and crossing the boundaries, it's fine smile

sk: yea it isn't everybodies cup of tea agree, I agree with u on the alert thing
I agree with you 100% about nudes. I don't care for nude photos. I have seen precious few that do little more than objectify the body (always a woman's too, hmmm) for the sole purpose of shock value or titillation. That's not to say that I've never seen tasteful artistic impressionistic photos that I can appreciate just that I've seen precious few that rise above the level of those found in the pages of magazines found on the shelves of the newsstand wrapped in brown paper.

I think this portrait has the potential to be better than it already is. I think the negative space in this case is a bit of a distraction, so perhaps a tighter crop to make it more intimate. I wish the child was a bit sharper. I don't know if the softness was focus or PPing, it's a bit hard to tell. Love the choice of black and white. smile
sk: thanx very much Laurie, ur coments are always helpful
I ditto all the above comments, if that makes sense, and you are still one of my fav.

Well I guess, u've given everyone something to talk abt with the nude comment. I'd like to think that the guys on SC are pretty mature and can actually open their minds up to other forms of art or at the least accept the way other people choose to express themselves.
'the warning thing' makes sense if it's coming from a legal stand point and the issues that should be taken into consideration are things like: the general ages of SC users, ... In my opinion comments like 'It scared the hell outta me' or 'I don't like nude art', should not be the basis for censorship. I'm just hoping that this isn't a culture thing! the thing to bear in mind is that SC has grown and now caters to a variety of people and culturessmile

Agree with Laurie on the use of negative space, also think that if the mother was in a position where she was more in focus and looking down at the little girl, there'd have been more of the bond impactsmile.

Not sure about the mature statment Ade Adeyemi made.
Whether mature or not i think nude shots should be left out of shutterchance, bearing in mind that children do visit the site, wanting to check out their pictures and are curious as to check other blog pages.

As for me i was a bit upset having to see the picture, also don't agree with ade as to whether it might be a cultural thing, some of us don't have a culture (compared to others) and yet it was very very un comfortable seeing the guy with his thing hanging out.

Back to the above picture, have to say that it's a bit plain to me, no connection seen with the mum and child. Know it can be better.
hi àsìkò, you're great with this kind of pics!
lovely b/w, the light is really put to good effect...

i agree with you about ur views on nude photography..i presume u have posted on the discussion thread regarding the same topic...

I have to say, any form of censorship on SC that says, NO Nude shots sees me saying bye bye to this lovely community. I believe in freedom of speech and freedom to post images that depict the human form, be it male or female as art (please do not mistaken this for porn)

I saw the aformentioned image and thought it was an exceptional peice of ART. So his "thing" as Gozi puts it was hanging out, that is why I advocate an 18+ warning for such images, Instead of a thumnbnail you have an 18+ sign saying that you are about to veiw an image suitable for people over that age, that is all that is required here.

I do a lot of Nude Photography and have to say I am proud of that fact.

very interesting blog you have here, for the shot I simply would have gone with a tighter crop otherwise I like it. For the nude shots, the sign thing is a good idea but does it really stop a kid from clicking on the thumbnail?

Lovely tender image.

But please just when it has almost died down, must we bring up the whole nude/no nude debate again? Let's just let the dead dog lie... My stand on this is, whilst I wouldn't condone pornographic images, most shots of nudes on SC are artistic and tastefully presented. Human form is the best, the most sacred creation of the Lord - why not glorify it more through art?
