Shadows in the quiet

Theme: Light and shadows

I'M BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know its been a while and I apologise for not being around. A lot has happened in the past few months. All my camera gear was stolen a few weeks back; cameras, lenses, flashes, memory cards, the lot. Major OUCH!!!! Anyway it seems this situation pushed me to get an upgrade from my previous 400D to a 5D.

Anyway when I had no camera and I had weddings to do, Jide gave me his 5D for  the event, for which I thank him from the bottom of my heart. This is one of the shots from the wedding. I took this one while the bride was relaxing and getting made up for her big day. My theme for the next few days will delve into techniques that I have been learning over the past few months dealing light and shadows. Some people might not like this type of photography (that is ok, each to their own). I personally love it.

Asiko, this is nice man, I like this type shots. I tend to prefer them to even lit shots, I have found myself shooting like this lately and I love it, it is like I just found the style that suits me. and I plan to stick to it for a while. Long story shot, I am digging this well done.
Shot sir !!

Lovely to see you back Ade, really sorry to hear about your gear, that must have been a blow! I'm not sentimentally attached to my gear but it would be a major pain replacing it.

Love the shot, really like the level of graduation from light to shade, beautiful. mal

A fine, clean and clear portrait in b&w. Well posed and cropped
Love this shot a lot. I think next time shoot at f4 or f5.6, one of the eyes is soft.
Yes I luv this shot. Agree with Jide...or even at 2.8 I've learnt that when you half click and get your focus, the u can reposition right or left to keep stuff like the eye in focus (especially when ur focus is off center)
beautiful shadow work but that eye does sem a bit soft...good to finally have you back...
Sorry to hear about your gear, that must have been painful! Like this a lot and look forward to seeing more.
What a truly stunning and mystical photograph. One can almost go as far as to compare the Mona Lisa, is she smiling? is she just away in thought? Are they good thoughts, bad thoughts, just remembering the old days? It captures one on the most emotional level and leaves one begging for more. What an utterly gorgeous and time engulfing photograph :o)

Love the lighting. I just wish that the focus was better on her face. The focus on the robe is sharp, the face is not.

Congrats on the new camera.
I like this a lot.
very nice Ade.
